How it works
Three steps. About five minutes from order to working data.
1. Pick your destination & plan
Choose your country from all destinations or pick one of the top travel destinations on our homepage. Plans are grouped by validity — 5 days, 7 days, 15 days, 30 days — so you can match the plan to your trip length without browsing thirty cards.
Data-only plans are the default. If you need calls and SMS, toggle the “Unlimited” tab; some countries have plans that bundle voice and messaging.
2. Pay with Stripe
Checkout is hosted by Stripe, the same payment processor you use at most online shops. Your card number never touches our servers. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Google Pay, and Apple Pay.
3. Scan the QR & connect
Your eSIM activation QR code arrives by email within the hour. There are two ways to install it:
iPhone (iOS 17+)
- Open Camera, point at the QR — “Cellular Plan Detected” banner appears.
- Tap the banner → tap Add Cellular Plan.
- Label the plan something memorable (“Japan trip”).
- Done. The eSIM stays dormant until you land in the destination country and it picks up a local network signal.
Android (Pixel 3+, Samsung S20+, etc.)
- Settings → Connections (or Network & internet) → SIM cards.
- Add → Scan the QR code from the email.
- Confirm. Same dormant-until-arrival behaviour.
What to expect on arrival
- When your phone lands and picks up a signal, the eSIM activates automatically.
- Validity (e.g. 15 days) starts ticking at that moment, not from when you bought.
- Your home line still works for calls and SMS to your usual number — the eSIM only handles data.
- To save battery, you can disable data on your home line in Settings → Cellular.
What if something goes wrong?
Email support@esimgenius.ai with your order id. The most common gotchas:
- QR shows “Invalid QR Code”. Re-scan from the email; sometimes the screen brightness or screenshot compression breaks the QR detection. If it still fails, reply to the order email and we'll send a fresh one.
- eSIM installs but won't connect. Try toggling Airplane Mode on and off — that forces the phone to re-scan for networks. If still nothing, check that data roaming is enabled for the eSIM line (Settings → Cellular → [eSIM] → Data Roaming).
- Wrong country. If you bought a plan for the wrong destination, email us within 24 hours and we'll see what we can do.
